We are living in the era of large language models, interacting with AI systems that have seemingly remarkable facility with the use of language. AI systems shape how we learn, work, and communicate. The pervasiveness of these systems brings with it a myriad of questions that range from ethics and security to the nature of creative thought. The certificate will address these questions and provide students with practical skills in their use, along with an understanding of the underlying technology and the societal implications of their adoption.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the technologies behind current AI models and serve as "AI ambassadors", demystifying and reducing fear of AI in the general public.
  2. Train, use, and evaluate AI models.
  3. Reason about the capabilities and limitations of different types of AI models.
  4. Employ AI tools to enhance productivity and creative problem solving.
  5. Identify ethical considerations and societal implications for the wide adoption of AI technologies.
