International Business Concentration (second concentration)

The International Business (IB) concentration is designed to complement a primary business specialization by preparing students to operate effectively in a global business environment. Rather than serving as a standalone focus, IB is taken as a second concentration alongside a traditional discipline such as finance, marketing, or supply chain management. This structure allows students to first develop strong technical expertise in their chosen field and then expand that knowledge by learning how to apply it across international contexts. Coursework emphasizes the connections between global cultures and business practices, helping students understand how economic, legal, and social differences influence decision-making around the world.

A key strength of the program is its focus on experiential learning, requiring students to complete six credits through opportunities such as study abroad programs, international or globally focused internships, service learning, or foreign language study. This hands-on component provides practical exposure to international business environments and enhances students’ ability to work across cultures. By combining functional depth in a core business area with a global perspective, the IB concentration equips graduates with the skills and mindset needed to succeed in organizations that operate beyond national borders.
