The Graduate Certificate in Fundamentals of Veterinary Diseases will provide students with a foundation in common diseases found in veterinary medicine. Students will gain knowledge in diagnostic imaging and its relevance in a disease process, immunology, infectious diseases, dental diseases, degenerative diseases, metabolic diseases, neoplastic diseases, and clinical pathology. Student population would include individuals applying to veterinary school, looking to increase their application credentials and knowledge base prior to attending a veterinary program. Veterinary technicians looking to advance their knowledge and skills in the workplace would also benefit from this graduate certificate.

Finally, students who are interested in the Master of Science in Veterinary Clinical Care, Plan B program can initially apply for the graduate certificate and transfer into the program if they choose to proceed with the whole program.

Learning Objectives

Successful graduates will be able to:

  1. Identify and categorize common pathologies within veterinary medicine.
  2. Differentiate normal from abnormal imaging of domestic animal cases.
  3. Explain the immunological processes associated with various normal status and diseases presented.
  4. Compose a list of differentials for common diseases and clinical signs present in veterinary medicine.
  5. Explain and analyze the various diseases presented in domestic animals.
